20:20:20 Eye care

During a recent visit to an optician, one of my friends was told of an exercise for the eyes by a specialist doctor that he termed as 20-20-20.’ It is apt for all of us, who spend long hours at our desks, looking at the computer screen.
I Thought I’d share it with you. 20-20-20

Step I :-
After every 20 minutes of looking into the computer screen, turn your head and try to look at any object placed at least 20 feet away. This changes the focal length of your eyes, a must-do for the tired eyes.

Step II :-
Try and blink your eyes for 20 times in succession, to moisten them.

Step III :-
Time permitting of course, one should walk 20 paces after every 20 minutes of sitting in one particular posture. Helps blood circulation for the entire body.
Circulate among your friends if you care for them and their eyes. They say that your eyes r mirror of your soul, so do take care of them, they are priceless…..
Otherwise our eye would be like this…..

Easy Eye Care Tips – Eye Strain, Vision Care, Dark Circles [Easy Instructions]

 Take Proper Eye Care

EYES. Beautiful eye vision is a worthy gift, but we are dampening it due to lack of care. Here I try to cover every simple thing that you need to know in order to take proper eye care.

EYES & VISION CARE. Follow the 20-20-20 formula. Look away from the point of concentration (PC, TV, book..) every 20 minutes towards a distant object, then blink 20 times (fully close & open your eyes), and walk at least 20 steps every 20 minutes. This way you don’t strain your eyes, keep them moisturized and balance blood flow in your body.

DID YOU KNOW? We normally blink at an average of 12 times per minute, but blink just about 5 times when in front of a PC or a TV.

RELAXING YOUR EYES. Do palming (rubbing heat out of your palms, and closing them on the eye), and splash cold water on your face and eyes when time permits.

EYE TIPS. Too much light or brightness can harm your eyes, better stay away (anti-glare screen, or eye glasses help). Positioning yourself properly in front of a computer, TV or at work can help a great deal – distance yourself at an arms length from the computer screen, make yourself comfortable. Reduce brightness of your computer screen.

DARK CIRCLES. Make juice out of 3 pieces of cucumber, dip cotton pads in it for about 2 minutes, place them gently on the eye at bedtime. Taking (2-3) in almonds everyday also helps.

HEALTHY, NOURISHING FOOD. Intake food containing Vitamins A, C, and E (vital for the eye) daily – incl. egg, dairy products (milk, butter, cheese – in  adequate quantities), green leafy vegetables, citrus fruits, carrots, cucumber, tomatoes and lots of fresh fruits.

GOOD SLEEP. A good night’s rest is what your body needs after a hard working day. Please do remember that tiring your body, and not giving it enough rest also harms your eyes… it’s all interrelated.

EYE EXERCISES. You should have heard this a couple of times already. Your eyes need exercise as much as your body does. Here are some hand-picked helpful videos – [video-1, video-2, video-3, video-4

As simple as that…

મહાહેષાઓ એ અતલ ઊંડું આકાશ ભરતી;

ઝલાતા ના ઝાલ્યા, તટ ઉભયને ઉચ્છલી જતા;

હવે ધીમે ધીમે ઘટતું મટતું જાય જીવન;
બુઝાતા દીવાની શગ-શું, અવળો વાય પવન;
દૃગો ટૂંકું ભાળે પગ નજીકનું – તે ય ધૂંધળું;
પગો ટૂંકી ચાલે ઘર મહીં ફરે રે હળુહળુ;

Read More

American Diabetes Association Diet – The Ten Crucial Foods You Must Eat-By John Hofmann

American Diabetes Association Diet – The Ten Crucial Foods You Must EatBy John Hofmann

The American Diabetes Association diet recommends that you make healthy choices each time you eat. For those of us with diabetes, this is almost a no brainer. Eating healthy is one of the most important things we can do as diabetics to keep ourselves virile and complication free.

It is crucial that you see a nutritionist when you are diagnosed and get on a diabetic meal plan as soon as possible. It is also very important to choose foods with a low GI or Glycemic Index, and a high concentration of vitamins and minerals. The GI is a measure of how long it takes a certain food to raise your blood sugar, lower is always better.

Getting enough vitamins and minerals in the western world has become harder in recent decades due to the oversaturation of terrible, useless fast food that have taken over most of our diets. Some of the minerals and vitamins that are not present enough in the typical American diet are Fiber, calcium, potassium, magnesium, and vitamins C,A, and E.

The following foods are considered “super foods” by the American Diabetes Association diet, and these foods can be safely integrated into your existing diabetic diet, or even if you are not a diabetic, these foods should be incorporated into your meal plan just for the sake of good health and longevity. Hi ! handsome, my name is Rose

The first day of school our professor introduced himself and challenged us to get to know someone we didn’t already know. I stood up to look around when a gentle hand touched my shoulder.

I turned around to find a wrinkled, little old lady beaming up at me with a smile that that lit up her entire being.

She said, “Hi, handsome. My name is Rose. I’m eighty-seven years old. Can I give you a hug?” I laughed and enthusiastically responded, “Of course you may!” and she gave me a giant squeeze.

“Why are you in college at such a young, innocent age?” I asked.

She jokingly replied, “I’m here to meet a rich husband, get married, have a couple of children, and then retire and travel.”

“No seriously,” I asked. I was curious what may have motivated her to be taking on this challenge at her age.

“I always dreamed of having a college education and now I’m getting one!” she told me. (more…)
