નિવૃત્તિ…

આજે  અમારી ઑફિસમાંથી જયેન્દ્રકાકા  retire થઈ ગયાં… આમ તો મારે અને જયેન્દ્રકાકાને ઝાઝો પરિચય નહિ, હા. ત્રણેક વર્ષ સાથે કામ કર્યું પણ ડિપાર્ટમેન્ટ જુદા એટલે બહુ પરિચય કેળવાયેલો નહિ… એમના રીટારમેન્ટના માનમાં અમે બધાંએ સ્ટાફ મેમ્બર્સે એક ફેરવેલ પાર્ટી આપી… એક ગીફટ આપી અને ‘હસતાં’ ચહેરે એમને વિદાય આપી…

આમ તો ખાસ વર્ણવવા જેવો પ્રસંગ નહિ, પણ ખબર નહિ કેમ એમને જતાં જોઈને આંખમાં પાણી આવી ગયાં… એમને અમે શું ગીફ્ટ આપી ખબર છે? એક કાંડા ઘડિયાળ…!!!! પણ એમને જતાં જોઈને લાગ્યું કે હવે એમને આ ગીફ્ટનો ખપ ખરો????  સમય સાથે કદમ મિલાવી આખી 30 વર્ષ સુધી નિયમિત સમયસર ઑફિસ આવી જતાં જયેન્દ્રકાકાને હવે આ ઘડિયાળ શું પીડા નહિ આપે?

કાલે સવારે એમનાથી કદાચ સમયસર તૈયાર થઈ જવાશે… સમયસર પોતાનું રૂટિન પતાવીને એ કદાચ જ્યારે ઘરની બહાર નીકળવા જશે ત્યારે એમના ઘરની કોઈ વ્યક્તિ એમને અટકાવશે કે “ઓહો, આજે તો તમારે ઑફિસ નથી જવાનું…” અને ત્યારે કદાચ મન પર એક ઉઝરડો પડી જશે…

ઑફિસમાં રોજની જેમ જ HR મેનેજર મસ્ટરમાં જોઈ વિચારશે કે આજે કાકા મોડા પડ્યા છે… અને પછી એને પણ કોઈ યાદ કરાવશે કે “અરે, હવેથી તો જયેન્દ્રકાકા નથી આવવાના…”.એકાદ-બે દિવસ સહકર્મચારીઓથી પણ એમના ટેબલ પર કામની ફાઈલ્સ મૂકી દેવાશે અને પછી જાતે જ યાદ કરી લેવાશે કે હવે આ કામ બીજા કોઈએ સંભાળી લેવાનું છે…

બસ… બે-ત્રણ દિવસનો કચવાટ… બે-ત્રણ દિવસનો અજંપો… બે-ત્રણ દિવસની વિહવળતા… અને પછી બધું જ રૂટીન…. એમની જગ્યા ભરાઈ જશે… એમની હાજરીની ખોટ વિસરાઈ જશે… એ પોતે પણ ઘરથી નીકળીને કોઈ મંદિર કે કોઈ સંસ્થા કે પછી બાળકોને લઈને બગીચામાં જતાં થઈ જશે… અને થઈ જશે નિવૃત્તિની સહજ સ્વીકૃતિ…

રાશા અને હતાશા એટલે શું? ફ્રસ્ટ્રેશન શું છે? પોતાની વાત સાંભળનાર કોઇ ના મળે, સાંભળનાર કોઇ મળી જાય તો પણ, ગમે તે કારણોસર માણસ પોતાની લાગણી વ્યક્ત ના કરી શકે, મનમાં એવી ભીતિ રહ્યા કરતી હોય કે, પોતાની લાગણી વ્યક્ત કરવામાં આવશે તો તેનો વિરોધ થશે; એવી મૂંઝવણ અનુભવ્યા કરે. પોતાની વાત સાથે બીજા અસંમત થશે તો? એવી આંતરીક લાગણીથી વ્યક્તિ પીડાયા કરે અને છેવટે હતાશા અનુભવે. પોતાની લાગણી બીજાને જણાવવાની તક ના મળે ત્‍યારે માણસ અંદરથી ખલાસ થઇ જાય અને હતાશ બની જાય. Every person has a unique purpose in life. I beseech you not to waste your days wasting yourself for what you don’t know and don’t do well. Instead, discover your strengths, passions, purpose and build your life on those.

We are all here for a purpose. Your being here makes a difference. Your purpose may be ambiguous to you and a challenge to discover. Start now. There are many resources, coaches and books to help you with this endeavor.
The secret to fulfillment is self knowledge. Start the exciting journey of discovery.
The second part of the secret to fulfillment is to apply your self knowledge to what you do and how you live. The more you know, the more you can actively pursue your true purpose.

Don’t waste time lamenting what you don’t do well. Concentrate on your strengths. Those reflect who you are. Leave the other things to people who do them well. Build on your strengths. Do more of them and give yourself recognition for doing the things you do well.
Pay attention to the small details that you enjoy in your everyday life. Do more of them. Pay attention to the small details you don’t enjoy. Find ways (such as delegation) to eliminate as many of them as possible.
Keep a journal and put particular emphasis on the things about yourself and events in your life for which you are grateful.
Make an effort to release the negative aspects of your past. Try not be imprisoned by your past. Do not define yourself by your past.
Jumpstart your self-esteem by giving back to the community. Volunteer in a meaningful way that suits who you are and your interests.

Enjoy the journey. You will get to know and like yourself in a whole new way. Work with a friend, hire a coach, and use the resources out there, to help you with objectivity. Have someone point out the good things about you that you have a tendency to overlook. As soon as you stop doing what you hate and start doing what you love, you may find your life more meaningful and fulfilling.

95% of what we do – we do automatically and only 5% of our actions are conscious.

 

We all have our own ‘rituals’ that we repeatedly do without having to think about it. When you get up in the morning and brush your teeth, you don’t concentrate on the movements that you make. When you tie your shoes, drive to work, open the door, you do it automatically.

 

We really make very little choices. We repeatedly do certain actions and after some time it becomes automatic. It becomes a habit and it becomes active in the right circumstances, without you having to think about it.

 

The easiest actions for us to take are the ones we perform out of habit.

Listen to the whisper…or wait for the brick.

A young and successful executive was traveling down a neighborhood street, going a bit too fast in his new Jaguar. He was watching for kids darting out from between parked cars and slowed down when he thought he saw something.
 
As his car passed, no children appeared. Instead, a brick smashed into the Jag’s side door!
